The Baby Boom
The baby boom was a proposition the governments made to most western countries after WW2. The term baby boom is used to highlight a time in history when the birth of babies rose dramatically. This happened because so many people died in the war and countries wanted to boost their population after the plunge it took after the war. It is estimated that about 77.3 million people were born in America between the years 1946 and 1961 which are the official years of the baby boom. These days the babies that were born in this time are middle aged or entering their senior years. During the baby boom families had on average 3.9 children. Between 1940-1960 the number of families with 3 children doubled and families with 4 children quadruped.
