Qantas is an acroym it stands for Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Services.
Qantas has a very frequently used nickname which is the flying kangaroo because it hops from country to country or state to state refueling. Qantas is based in Sydney with its main hub at Sydney airport. It is Australia's largest ariline and the third oldest in the world. Qantas' headquarters are in Botany Bay, Sydney, New South Wales. Currently the airline is considered 4 star. Qantas was voted the 7th best airline in the world in 2010. In 2008 Qantas was third, 2007 fifth, 2006 second and 2005 second. Qantas was founded in Winston Queensland. The airlines flew internationly from May 1935 when it flew from Darwin to Singapore. In June 1959 Qantas had entered the jet age.
Qantas flies to 20 domestic destinations and 21 international destinations in 14 different countries all over Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Qantas offers flights to all the major cities in Australia; Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart.
