Kylie Minogue was born on the 28th of May in 1968. Kylie is a pop singer, songwriter and an actress. Her first professional job was on the Australian sitcom Neighbours before she made her first single 'Locomotion' which spent 7 weeks as number one on the Australian singing charts and was the highest selling single of the decade. One big achievement of Kylie's was singing at the closing ceremony of the 2000 olympics. In 2005 Kylie was embarking on a concert tour when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After she had surgery and chemotherapy she continued with her career in 2006 with showgirl - her homecoming tour. Her newest album is called Aphrodite which came out on the 30th of June 2010. Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 17th of May 2005. When she was having her treatment in Melbourne the whole thing was over the internet and TV. It was a big deal and even the prime minister or Australia at that point (John Howard) gave a statement encouraging Kylie. When Kylie was on the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2008 she spoke about her cancer. She said that she had been originally mis-diagnosed. She said 'just because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn't neccessarily mean they are right'. This became a big deal and many people were mad that she said that. Later she released a statement that showed her respect for the medical profession to try and smooth the problem over. When Kylie was falsely diagnosed doctors all over the world used the term 'the Kylie Effect' which they say encourages women to have more than one test and have regular check ups.
